Too many distractions...

Well, I’m failing miserabley at NaNoWriMo. I started a different story because the other just wasn’t a story. The new one was on a role, just about 600 words I think, then it stuttered. The next part I’m just not quite sure what is suppose to happen. It’s driving me nuts because the rest of it I have mostly figured out. It’s just one detail that I can’t figure out. sigh So a week in and I’m waaaay behind!

Of course now that I should be focused on my writing I am instead playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, just starting a new layout for this site, watching a lot of hockey and Heroes, and now planning to try and read more too. I’m a member at Shelfari, which I’ve also neglected even though I think it’s a neat idea. They have a challenge on there to try and read 50 books in a year. I don’t think I can make 50 because I just don’t seem to beable to read for very long when I’m at home, but I’m going to see how many I can get through. I figure this is a good time to start all the books I’ve been buying and haven’t even looked at since. I currently have Duma Key (the newest Stephen King, and my first book to start off this challenge), the first two books of the Twilight series, Christmas Stories by Charles Dickons (that I keep meaning to read every christmas for the past three years), and I want to read The Shining again…among a bunch of other Stephen King books. I’ve been on a Stephen King kick lately. I need to get The Shining, The Stand, Dolores Clayborn and a bunch of others I have only read once many years ago. I have read quite a few SK books twice or possibly even three times, but it’s amazing how much you don’t realize you’ve forgotten after so many years. His books are the only ones so far that I can easily reread. I may also try to reread The Lord of the Rings. That one will be a little bit more difficult, but it might work. And if I can find my Dragonlance Chronicle trilogy I can read that too. I may just get to at least half way…

Anyways, that’s about it. I’ll leave the rant about my misbehaving tablet and leave with a YAY! for my Canucks!

  1. I buy a lot of books too! xD But the only ones I read are the Twilight series. :/ I’m planning to read as many as possible starting tomorrow, when my 6 weeks long holidays starts. :)

  2. Haha, I was planning on joining that 50 books challenge but I’m not sure I’d be able to. Hmm, I might give it a try though. Good luck with your story writing!

  3. I’ve been trying to read more too. I was going to join that challenge but I’ll start on January :)

  4. I wish I had the patience for National Writers Month. I hardly write anything, and I’m a writing major! Ugh! I gotta kick it up a notch I think…

  5. Don’t worry, I’m failing at nanowrimo too. I only have 83 words lol. Then again, my goal is only 10k because it’s my first year of university and I knew I’d be busy.

  6. Bah! I have a neglected Shelfari account as well, even though I think it’s pretty cool. I really should update it, as I’ve read a couple of books that could use some reviews =)
