Goodbye 2008, Happy 2009....hopefully
Happy New Year everyone! I don’t have a whole lot to say about it at this point really. I sat at home in the livingroom by myself all night, watched some tv, played some video games and then went to bed around 1am. I did watch the final episode of Royal Canadian Air Farce. It was so sad at the end! I’ve loved that show since the first time I saw it! They had 5 chicken cannon targets, one of them being CBC for their bad programming decisions (at this point there was a wink), and before they did the fifth, special guest Ron McLean asked if he could do his own special target. For those who know who Ron McLean is it’s easy to guess who his target was…Don Cherry. He did this weird creepy laugh when telling what he’d put in the cannon as ammo; cherries, grapes, ugly ties (I thnk that was all…that’s all I can remember anyways lol). It was quite funny. I almost felt like crying when they all said goodbye, probably a little bit because having had a bad day/night I was a little emotional. It seems like every few years I have a bad New Years Eve.
Anyways, I don’t do the resolutions, but I did make a goal for myself. I’m going to at least have figured out where and what I’m getting printed. I’ve been wanting to get art cards and postcards printed of my own photography so I can sell them. I’ve been half-assed when it’s come to figuring out how much it’s going to cost and how to set up my site. So my goal is to have a plan and at least be close to executing it by the end of 2009. I say close to executing it because we’re hoping to go to Europe in September so I may not have enough start up money saved up on the side to get it done this year. I got a lot of encouragement from family at Christmas brunch this year when everyone saw my calendar and photo tray I made for my gramma. It was very motivating. I think the hardest thing besides the money is going to be the site. I’m having a hard enough time finding a gallery script I like (mostly because I want to beable to embed it into my current site), let alone sorting and updating my photos and then figuring out the whole store script thing. sigh
Something else I need to do this year is go out and take more pictures. I need to get the dummies book for my camera so that I can learn quicker how to make all the settings work. I find that when I read the manual I don’t totally know what some of the things mean. I flipped through the dummies book when I was the book store before Christmas and it seemed like it had a lot of good info in it. I’ve been trying to find local places I could go to get some pictures too, since I’ve taken far too many of places within walking distance from where I live. So far I’ve found a few parks that I’m going to try. I’m hoping that I can find some wildlife around too.
One good thing to start of the New Year…I found I’ve lost a bit of weight. For the past few years I’ve hovered around an average weight and when I checked last night I was 10 pounds lighter then that weight. I had been a little under lately, but never that much so hopefully that will be my new “average” weight. I still have quite a bit to go before I’m considered healthy by the Health Book standards, but I’m still happy!
And that’s all I suppose…I meant for this blog to sound less rambly then it has, but oh well. I guess this is what a blog is for.

My name is Carla. I'm a Canadian girl, Coca~Cola drinker, loyal Canucks fan, avid Stephen King reader, amateur photographer, Legend of Zelda addict and wannabe pirate. And yes, I know I'm a dork.

That’s a great New Year’s resolution! I hope you’ll be able to accomplish it by the time January rolls around next year =) My goal is to read more books and spend more time with friends because I’ve neglected them this year >.<

I feel ya on the NYE front… I didn’t pretty much the same thing but with my boyfriend… I kind fell asleep through some movies though before midnight :P
NYE is too much effort these days and without drinking it’s just dull.
I hope your goal goes well for you! Sounds like a great idea and congrats on the weight loss!!

My New Years was rather boring as well… I just sat around with friends and watched the Office… and then I watched them all play World of Warcraft. Ha. Good luck with all your photography work!

That’s sad that you didn’t have anyone to ring in the New Year with. I wasn’t invited out this year either. I spent the night at my boyfriend’s house with him, his parents, and his grandmother. It wasn’t too bad. We also played video games and watched tv including the last episode of the Royal Canadian Air Farce.
Have fun taking pictures. I’m sure you will be able to sell your photos. You just need to find the places to sell them at. You could sell them online also I suppose.
And congrats on losing weight. That’s always nice when you didn’t know that you lost any. I have been staying around the same weight for almost 10 years now.

You don’t do resolutions, just goals for yourself? I dunno… in my book that’s like the same thing. LOL… Anyway, good luck figuring out what you’re going to print!

Let me know if you find a good gallery script which you can embedd into your site. I need something like that aswell but so far I’ve never seen any script which you can really embed into your site without the gallery page looking like a different site.

Congrats on your weight loss.
Hope you achieve your goal!
I really didn’t do much New Year’s Eve, either, except to sit around watching various cheesy Disney Channel shows…with my younger brother! Of course I wouldn’t watch them of my own accord. :P

I don’t do resolutions either; I set goals as well. Yours sounds reasonable and like a healthy thing to aspire to, so I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a happy, productive year.

That looks like a pretty good gallery script. I think I’ll try it out once I have the energy to start the planned revamp of my gallery. Thanks for the tip! :)
