If You Seek Amy...really?
This is what has parents all upset? Are you kidding me? I just listened to the song and you can clearly hear her say “If” not “ef”, for one. And for another…I bet these parents grew up with music that was just as suggestive just with different words. Seriously. I think some people need to get a life. You can raise your children to listen to music like that and not end up a slut. Brittany is not the one corrupting children, I don’t care what anyone says. TV and music does not MAKE anyone do anything. I grew up watching things like Indiana Jones and Star Wars and the Simpsons and horror movies, all thing with violence in them (guns, fighting etc) and I did not end up a violent person. Oh and don’t forget Looney Tunes. Have any of you 20-somethings watch a Bugs Bunny episode lately? They’ve taken out a lot of parts I’ve noticed, if shown on a channel that small children may watch. It’s ridiculous to me that they think tv is making thier children take guns to school, or music is making thier daughters sluts. They all grew up listening to the music of drug addicts and that didn’t make them all cokeheads did it?
Well that wasn’t what I intended to blog about, and I’ve probably bothered or offended some parents out there, but I needed to say it. I have very young little brothers who have grown up listening to rap music and play halo and who are now just getting into their teens, they are not violent children at all. Depression or mental disease is more likely the underlying issue of a lot of the things that I’ve heard people try to blame on entertainment of some form.
…and of course, this is all just opinion, so there’s no need for angry comments.

My name is Carla. I'm a Canadian girl, Coca~Cola drinker, loyal Canucks fan, avid Stephen King reader, amateur photographer, Legend of Zelda addict and wannabe pirate. And yes, I know I'm a dork.

I know what you are talking about and can think of a lot of songs that are highly suggestive back then and even today. Also, what difference does it make if the music is not rock, but hip hop, r&b, or rap?
It all falls down to parents not sitting down and talking to their kids that just because someone famous sang or if they saw something on television, that it is correct. This censorship really ticks me off. It is one thing to censor someone who runs their mouth without any base for an argument… but for the rest…
In other countries, it is natural to see nudity/ more skin. Why is it so much more wrong here in the US than there, even in next door countries like Mexico?

I completely agree with everything you said. I grew up watching looney tunes and star wars also. They were my favorite. I never knew that they took violent things out of cartoons. that’s crossing the line, i think. that’s pretty crazy. (despair.nu comment)

Wow, I totally agree with you. 100%.
Music influences thing, yeah, but when it comes to like Britany Spears and people like that it’s mostly, “Oh this sounds like a fun song, it has a good beat, let’s dance” kind of thing. My niece has been listening to Britany since she was about five, and she’s ten now, and she is very well behaved and spends most of her time reading books.
Parents who think things like that seriously need to get a life.
(No offense to any parents that are like that out there.)

I agree with you 100%.. I actually think it quite funny because in America – where everything is censored and so on there is so much more violence in Denmark, where I come from that is way more liberal when it comes to what children are allowed to listen to, wear and say.

I so agree with you! I’ve been listening to Britney’s music, and I didn’t even notice that until I read a blog about it. I do think that those parents are overreacting.
