I'm a rover can you love me anyway?

I’m so excited! I got tickets this morning for my favorite band, Great Big Sea with opening band Spirit of the West. I was ready at 10 when they went on sale and ended up getting 2nd row tickets!!! I’ve never sat that close for any concert ever! I’ve missed the last couple times GBS came to Victoria and was very upset about that. I’ve seen them I think 3 times live. My favorite concert was at Roots Fest years ago (I can’t quite remember exactly what year right now… :$). I ended up getting my picture taken with my favorite, Alan (which turned out horrible!) and got his autograph:

I got him to sign Turn because it has my favorite song on it, Boston & St. Johns (the subject is one of the lyrics). Their music was what first introduced me to celtic music and I’ve been completely hooked every since. I need to listen to their newest album Fortune’s Favour more because for some reason I just never really put it on. It always takes me a bit to get listening to new cds because I like being able to sing along, which is hard when you don’t know the words. I’m hoping to get some good shots at the concert since I’ll be so close! I emailed the arena to see what they’re saying about cameras. I did read on GBS’s site that they don’t mind cameras as long as there’s no flash (pictures turn out better without flash anyways, which so many don’t seem to get).

I’m currently listening to Spirit of the West. They’re from my province but I’ve never got to see them live. The only song I know almost the whole world knows is Home For A Rest. “I’ve been gone for a month, I’ve been drunk since I left! And these socalled vacations will soon by my death, I’m so sick from the drink I need home for a rest” . I’m very excited to finally get to see them. The only other songs I actually know well by them is Political and And If Venice Is Sinking. I bought their album Spirituality which is basically a greatest hits and I’m loving a lot of their other songs as well.

In other news, I got my keys back. I wrote last night in the previous post about how I dropped them under the elevator. Very embarassing. The building managers hadn’t been home all day until about 2 and it turned out the elevator guy had been to do a normal checking of the elevator and found them. I was so happy! They assured me that things like this happen, they just had to help a woman at another building they deal with get her cellphone out from under that elevator. Needless to say I’m incredibly relieved that it wasn’t a hassle.

  1. although I’ve never heard of this band
before, the vibes of enthusiasm just seems
    to spread! (:

hope you enjoy the concert! the only
concert that I’ve been that close to
the stage was avril’s try to shut me up
tour. free-standing so I was pushed from
the forth row to the second. awesome!

  2. I’ve never heard of this band before either! However, it does feel good to have good tickets for a live concert :] I agree.
I hope you enjoy it :]
I seem to lose keys easily as well. And they always reappear in the most random places!

  4. I never hear many Great Big Sea songs, but I know there’s one of them that plays over and over at the grocery store I go to! The tune always gets stuck in my head, but I don’t really know the lyrics, it’s a catchy song!

  5. Yay for concerts! I only know a couple of GBS songs but I think they’re pretty good, but not really my style.

Under the elevator? How did that woman’s phone get down there? Like drop it in the gap at the door? o_O
